Selvika National Tourist Route in Norway - Summer is a time to take advantage of warm weather and enjoy the outdoors. The National Tourist Routes are "scenic roads for exploring Norway's breathtaking landscapes" and an opportunity for architects to design striking buildings and installations along the 18 routes. The Selvika project designed by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter (one of many they've designed), opened on June 22. Its curling concrete paths slow one's movement from the road down to the sea in this extreme northerly location. Built into the construction are a bike shed, toilets, benches, an open kitchen, and even a fireplace.  jh

Given summer's lure, the World-Architects eMagazine will be taking a vacation, returning on August 27. Happy and safe summer travels from World-Architects!

This connection across different classes illustrates one aspect of the design/buildLAB, namely its concern with environmental responsibility.
