Wendy at MoMA PS1 - On July 1, the 13th edition of the Young Architects Program at MoMA PS1 in Long Island City opened to the public. Wendy is the competition-winning design by New York-based architects Matthias Hollwich and Marc Kushner (HWKN). The exploding blue form trapped in scaffolding is slathered in a titania nanofilm that neutralizes airborne pollutants. By maximizing the surface area of the PVC fabric, the architects contend Wendy will clean the air on par with taking 260 cars off the road. See our "Insight" interview with MoMA curator Pedro Gadanho for more informati on on the installation.  jh

Designed by Grimshaw and Dattner Architects, Via Verde (Green Way) in the Bronx is a distinctive affordable housing project that terraces from an internal courtyard to a 20-story on the south. The crisp facade, composed of a prefabricated rainscreen in three materials (fiber cement, aluminum composite, wood composite), receives a punch from Prodema's ProdEX colorful wood composite panels.
