La Biennale di Venezia : 11th International Architecture Exhibition

782 participants from 48 countries: this is the first result emerging from Everyville 2008
The highest number of participants is from Italy, the United States and Brazil
The best 50 projects will be displayed at the 11th Exhibition



There are 782 participants – mostly from outside Italy (51%) – from 48 countries registered for the international on-line competition, Everyville 2008, organised by the Biennale di Venezia, chaired by Paolo Baratta, with Telecom Italia, for the 11th International Architecture Exhibition, Out There: Architecture Beyond Building (September 14th – November 23rd 2008).

The competition, curated by the Director of the 11th Exhibition, Aaron Betsky, in collaboration with Francesco Delogu, is aimed at university students of all disciplines in Italy and abroad. The closing date for entries was July 1st . The contest offers the first ten in the rankings and the 40 projects gaining special mention the opportunity to display their projects at the 11th Exhibition. The works will be selected by the international jury chaired by the President of the Biennale, Paolo Baratta, comprising Aaron Betsky, Francesco Delogu, Zaha Hadid, Thom Mayne, Wolf Prix, Flavio Albanese and Luigi Centola.

The Everyville 2008 participants are from 48 countries: Europe (26 countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom); Asia (12 countries: Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand); Americas (8 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, the United States), Africa (South Africa) and Oceania (Australia). After Italy (381), the country with the most participants is the United States (68), followed by Brazil (31), Germany and United Kingdom (both 24).

Everyville 2008 is an initiative made possible by the collaboration of the Biennale with Gruppo Telecom Italia, which has placed its most innovative technology at the service of the competition and display of the winning projects.
